“Initiating change during a time when it is difficult to measure impact, especially due to the COVID-19 crisis, is often harder to catalyse when communities are forced to find alternative ways to do so.
However, Igniting Youth India was formed as a direct result of the global pandemic, and has found a way to explore and expand new ways of increased connectivity despite the current situation. The founders initially began using online tools of engagement during the initial stages of the lockdown imposed in India and other countries overseas, and through a common connecting point, were able to gather other youth online to ignite change and provide a support structure for youth during the pandemic.
Solve Squad has also been able to connect with Igniting Youth to explore virtual engagement in an effort to expand our platform internationally. As a result, Igniting Youth will be partnering in collaboration with other joint South Asian-based youth organisations and initiatives to facilitate an innovative response to the coronavirus’ impact across borders. Due to the extension of issues such as the technology gap, youth-driven movements are at the core of providing new ways to lead the conversation, particularly around constructive activism. It is this core focus that Igniting Youth India embraces, and why we are looking forward to driving this collaboration forward.
As this conversation develops, we will be providing ways for young people to respond post-COVID-19, as an opportunity to further shape the post-crisis reality and be enabled to take action as a direct response within their community.
