The Changemaker Project x Solve Squad

During the COVID-19 restrictions, there have been many barriers that have proven difficult to overcome, especially in light of the younger generation and the challenges facing youth; including that of the future of work.

One of the most engaging initiatives for young people that has begun to gain traction amongst youth on an international scale is The Changemaker Project; an initiative that has begun to provide a platform for individuals within communities to identify needs, but also, to creatively innovate solutions. Using an online platform, the project is able to assign virtual mentors to assist young social innovators to guide them to turn their ideas into reality.

Their recent Global Pitch for 2020 saw 100% of projects funded, including the Hutchins 4 Homeless initiative based in Hobart, where a school was able to create a community garden, generating both income and fresh produce to provide assistance to the homeless community. Other projects also focused on addressing community issues, such as loneliness and isolation, public health challenges, education, violence prevention, and other issues facing wider society.

Similar innovative initiatives, including community responses to the Black Lives Matter movement, have also been funded through The Changemaker Project. The initiative continues to provide assistance, guidance and ongoing support for young initiators to continue their projects within their communities, sparking local change and becoming part of a global cohort of changemakers.
