Konexio x SolveSquad Jun 10 Written By Joseph Kolapudi “The need for a response to the current crisis of COVID-19 in regards to the plight of refugees has presented both new challenges and opportunities. Challenges, due to the distance in proximity to many refugees limited by social distancing and societal interaction; and opportunities to engage in new ways of collaboration through online platforms, such as those that are currently at the forefront of our times. An emerging platform for refugees to upskill has begun connecting with various initiatives, including our newest collaboration project through SolveSquad. Konexio, in partnership with the Global Shapers community of the World Economic Forum, has begun compiling online resources, tools and methods of engagement for refugees to access and engage with around the world. Here in Australia, the number of refugees engaging in resettlement, coupled with the issue of limited access to mainstream services and private education has limited the amount of growth within the community as a whole. However, with platforms such as the emerging initiative offered by Konexio, refugees from different parts of the country can connect virtually in an effort to learn new skills, participate and engage with other refugees, as well as to identify new ways of experiencing connectivity during the current global crisis.Solve Squad, in collaboration with Konexio, will be able to cross-collaborate and share resources that will then be available to access by individuals from the refugee community, who in turn will be able to share these resources with their informal networks around the country. As a step forward, this will also be an available platform post-COVID-19, providing an opportunity for others to engage and to be sustainable beyond the currently limited provisions in effect due to the lockdown. Once the platform is available, this will also provide a way for organisations, businesses and other youth-driven initiatives to engage and collaborate together for those who are often misrepresented and marginalised within the wider society. This refugee upskilling project is sure to provide a way forward for those in Australia and abroad.” — https://www.konexio.eu/ Joseph Kolapudi
