Unbound x Solve Squad

Online learning has fast become one of the go-to options when considering further education, especially for tertiary students. However, with the onset of the continuing pandemic, social distancing measures and closed campuses, many are forced to consider more holistic options than simple online diplomas via distance learning. Furthermore, many professionals and part-timers are also looking at upskilling and experiencing a different form of education.

Unbound is an Australian-based social enterprise with a global perspective; and an aim to offer unique study experiences to students seeking to address the bigger challenges of our times. Unlike most traditional programs that take place in a classroom-based setting or lecture theatre, Unbound offers its students both the flexibility and the opportunity to look outside the box and experience education on-the-go.

They also take their motto, “Learning without Boundaries” seriously; by engaging and partnering with several practitioners and organisations overseas, particularly within the Asia-Pacific region, to offer students hands-on, meaningful experiences to put their ideas into practice as they learn.

Due to COVID-19, Unbound has continued to think outside the box, and recently launched their Virtual Global Program.

As a global, social impact program, the course is an engaging program connecting students within the Asia-Pacific region on real world multidisciplinary projects. Since the focus is primarily on offering students a chance to experience a cultural exchange and group projects, it is not a typical university program. The experience includes cooking classes, the chance to interact with global speakers and mentors, as well as an opportunity to get hands-on with a real project.

This summer program is delivered online (with some optional face-to-face activities, subject to coronavirus restrictions) and is a chance to gain professional and cross-cultural skills in a fun and interactive way. Practitioners from countries such as Nepal, Thailand, India and Vietnam will offer engaging opportunities to learn real-life stories, experiences and case-studies from those living on the field.

One of the biggest advantages of taking the Virtual Global Program is that it is offered 100% free, as a way to subsidise costs to eligible students, particularly those from an international background or those seeking to gain more of a global experience.

Thanks to several host universities, in line with the New Colombo Plan (NCP) initiative coordinated by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and supported with NCP Mobility Grants, the program will be covered by significant scholarships.

So if you are a student seeking to get out of your comfort zone, consider applying today.
