SDG Youth Challenge 2021
Youth around the world have been finding unique ways to connect and collaborate, especially in these trying times with the global pandemic; and for young people here in Australia, there is an opportunity to engage with other changemakers to meet the global challenge on a local level.
The Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development – Greater Western Sydney (RCE-GWS) is an educational network run in collaboration with Western Sydney University. As part of the Global RCE Network, the RCE SDG Youth Challenge “Youth for the Goals” is an international youth-led project-based initiative run annually that connects youth leaders working in their own communities to a larger global platform that includes mentoring support and peer validation. This initiative aims to engage and empower local youth leaders with the opportunity to have a voice and implement their own place-based projects on issues that matter to them, with a focus this year on the United Nations SDG’s.
In particular, the three main SDGs that will be of particular focus this year is SDG 11: Sustainable Cities, and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, as well as SDG 15: Life on Land. The project is open to any young person who is at university, college or part of a school.
